Michael is a US Sailing Basic Keelboat Instructor who is certified to teach Coastal and Celestial Navigation and holds a USCG credential for Master of 50T on inland waterways. He has raced throughout the Great Lakes, Chesapeake Bay and Atlantic Ocean on boats ranging in size from 35 to 86 feet and lived onboard the sailboat Phoenix with his wife Rachel and three cats for over 12 years prior to their move in Michigan in 2023.
In addition to sailing Michael is a professional pilot with over 15,000 hours of flight time and is currently serving as an instructor pilot with the airline he’s been with since 2006.
Michael also has his sights set on a few of the classics climbs in the Alaska Range and hopes to head out on his first expedition in early 2028.
