CLIMBING ANCHORS 1.0 GRAND LEDGE AUGUST 29TH 3P-7P

This clinic will cover building climbing anchors in different scenarios including tree anchor systems typiclally used in the midwest for Ice/rock climbing, sport climbing/bolted anchors, and traditional rock anchors with cams and nuts in a single pitch type environment.. Geared for new climbers and aspiring lead climbers as an introduction to climbing outdoors. Familiarity with top rope climbing is helpful as well as equipment listed below recommended. The instructor is experienced and certified with the American Mountain Guides Association. Class Size: 6 

COST: $75/person 

WE WILL COVER:

- Anchor fundamentals 

- Constructing anchors using trees and other natural protection 

- Intro to building anchors using traditional equip. (ie cams and nuts) 

Qualifications: Due to the nature of this class you need a certain knowledge base prior to this type of clinic. 

1. Familiar with basic climbing techniques including belaying and knots. Outdoor climbing experience or plans to venture outside. 

Gear: You will need your own gear in order to participate in the class. Plan to be outside the majority of the day unless there is heavy rain 

1. Helmet- (can be rented)  

2. Harness 

3. One 7-8mm cordelette ~15 feet. (ie anchor building cordellette) 

4. Two 48 inch nylon runner/sling 

5. Two locking carabiners 

6. Two non-locking carabiners 

7. ATC belay device 

8. Webbing (optional)

We have additional equipment for demonstration and use.
